火の鳥 手塚治虫

『小説以外』の余波で(ロビタなんて出てきたっけ?...などなど)、
『火の鳥』文庫版(1)-(13)を一気読み。
覚えている話も、覚えていない話も、スケールの大きさに改めて脱帽。

「未来編」で、「火の鳥」が「人類の誕生から滅亡」を何度も目撃していることが明かされる。
「どうしてどの人類も間違えてしまうのだろう...」と嘆息(しているように見える)。
でも「今度こそ...」という希望は捨てない。

初めて読んだとき(たぶん小学生?)、気の遠くなるような長さだと思っていた「人類の歴史」に対して、それが「繰り返す」という視点を得てグラッときた感触をまた思い出した。

小説以外 恩田陸

このところ、エッセイにも手を出すようになった。

先日読んだ『「恐怖の報酬」日記』もなかなか楽しめたし、というわけで、
『小説以外』もとりあえず買ってみた。

ひらたく言うと、短いレビューを集めたもの。
最初の方は「ふ~ん」と読み流す感じ。

それが。
自分の知っている作品に触れたものに「おっ」-- 読者としての恩田陸を語る部分に「おっ」
こんな「おっ」が重なるごとに、加速度アップ。
で、読後感は「すっごい面白い、この本!」

恩田ファンかどうかにもよるのだろうけれど、
この本でレビューされている作品を読みたくなったし、読み返したくなった。
そして、恩田陸と本話をしてみたい!本屋か図書館で。
